Most underwater photographers and experienced divers are after those amazing creatures.
Why? Just because their diversity of forms and colours is incredible and also and more importantly because they are so hard to spot...you need to hunt them !!
La majorité des photographes ainsi que des plongeurs expérimentés sont après ces créatures.
Pourquoi? Parce que la diversité de leurs formes et couleurs est incroyable mais aussi et surtout parce qu'ils sont durs à dénicher...ils faut des yeux expérimentés pour les trouver !!
Nembrotha are distributed mainly on coral reefs. Kubaryana is a highly variable species. The body is usually black with green pustules or spots that sometimes connect in lines. Gills, rhinophores and edge of the mantle are usually bright red or orange.
For those who know nothing about Nudibranchs. The gills, on the posterior part of their back, are widely developped and form a large feather-like cluster. Nudibranchs use those to breathe.
The rhinophores are those two tiny antennae-like structures on their head and help them to smell, sense or see. We call mantle, the main body of the Nudibranch.
Nembrotha vivent principalement sur les récifs coralliens. Kubaryana est une espèce hautement variable. Le corps de l'animal est généralement noir recouvert de pustules ou points verts qui parfois s'unissent pour former des lignes. Les branchies, rhinophores ainsi que le bord du manteau sont rouges ou orangés.
Pour ceux qui ne s'y connaissent pas du tout en Nudibranches. Les branchies sont l'espèce de plumeau qu'ils ont sur l'arrière du dos et qui forme un panache. Les Nudibranches utilisent cet structure pour respirer. Les rhinophores sont ce qui parait comme deux petites antennes sur le sommet de la tête et les aident à sentir, voir et percevoir. On appelle manteau, le corps principal de l'animal.
Nudibranchs are usually found nearby their food source. Nembrotha feeds on arborescent bryozoans or solitary and colonial ascidians ike the ones on the picture above.
On trouve généralement les Nudibranches aux alentours de leur source d'alimentation. Nembrotha se nourrit de bryozoans arborescentes ou d'ascidies solitaires ou coloniales comme celles sur la photo ci-dessus.
